My name is Megan Maltby and I am an IBCLC or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. To expand my knowledge and career, I have also graduated from Birthingway College of Midwifery with a certificate in Lactation Consultation. This certificate consisted of 1.5 years of lactation specific education and clinical practicum with extensive training in order to provide upstanding and thorough lactation care.
I have always been fascinated by pregnancy, birth and lactation and since having my daughter and experiencing them first hand, my fascination and interest turned into a passion with a desire to support the mother/infant dyad as well as their families. I am here to offer unbiased, evidence based support, help you reach your goals and to provide information regarding the new breastfeeding research that comes out each day.
I currently offer prenatal breastfeeding appointments where we go over positioning, latch basics, what to expect in the first few months with answers to a variety of questions; post-natal breastfeeding appointments where we address questions, assess transfer, etc., as well as back to work/school appointments which are focused on maintaining milk supply while away and supporting the dyad during that transition and throughout their breastfeeding career. I offer in-home appointments, as well as email and phone support.
I enjoy meeting new families and local care providers in order to gain a better understanding of their practices and how they may support the breastfeeding relationship.
The most important thing I want you to know about me is that I support families throughout their entire feeding career no matter what that my look like (at breast or away from breast). I am here to offer unbiased support, evidence based knowledge and thoughtful, alternative care.
In my free time I enjoy camping, kayaking and fishing with my wonderful family!
